Balıkesir

An important part of Balıkesir is found in the Marmara area, it also borders the north west of the Anatolian peninsula and the Aegean. To the south are Manisa and Izmir, to the west is the Aegean and Çanakkale, to the east is Kütahya and Bursa and to the north it is surrounded by the Marmara. It is one of the few cities which border two seas.
In addition to this it is also a neighbour to one of the Greek islands. Balıkesir is the city with the most islands in Turkey, some of which are found in the Aegean and others in the Marmara.

Balıkesir is a place where sandy beaches combine with crystal clear waters and bays are surrounded by luscious olive groves, islands and fresh cool air which comes straight from the Ida Mountain. This mountain is also known in Greek mythology for the epic of Homeros. Thousands of people visit every year and enjoy the healing waters of Balıkesirs thermal springs making it one of Turkey’s most important cities with regard to tourism.

The fresh fish, rakı and wine are a must on Cunda Island and the watching the sun set over the horizon is definitely not to be missed.
