The Çatalca Mountains have a history of almost 2500 years, with flora, fauna, countless waterways and barrages. It is as though it has been placed in this position to provide water reserves for Istanbul.
Çatalca is well known for its caves which have stood the tests of time and inhabit natural beauty. Some of the more popular caves are Inceğiz, Ikigöz, Elbasan, Gökçeali, and Kırkayak. Another cave is Kocakuyu which has stalactite and stalagmite and even a lake at its deepest point. The depth of the lake reaches 700 metres in certain places and has a variety of fish which can not be found above land.
Çatalca is also a rich area for beaches which combine beautifully with nature. Some examples are; Yalıköy, which has a beautifully long beach where you can find wide caves which have been formed by the sea eroding the rock at the foot of the mountains. At the rear of the beach is a vast forest which creates a fantastic view.
Çilingoz, which is a bay of unrivalled natural beauty. It is found in the Binkılıç area where the sea, forests and running waters combine. It is a place that has attracted tourism over the past few years and thanks to its campsites, visitors are accommodated in a natural economic environment.
Karaburun, which is a place with a beach by the Black sea that is truly stunning. Ormanlı, which has a beach to the rear of its village and combines beautifully with the forest and Evcik, which is a beach found in Karaca village and is also surrounded by forestry land.
