Fethiye/Faralya
FETHİYE
Fethiye province, hosting antique Telmessos city, is located on the southern part of Fethiye Bay and on the southern west of Fethiye Prairie. Fethiye, having a peerless beach named Ölüdeniz (Dead Sea) is one of the most important tourism centers in Turkey. It also has many places suitable for diving, such as Af Kule. Countless caves in the region are open for visit. Paragliding facilities are also available thanks to its natural structure. Kelebekler valley and Kabak bay are the untouched places. It is possible to visit 12 Islands by the daily yacht tours. Some of the famous beaches around Fethiye, other than Ölüdeniz are: Belcekız (Belceğiz), Çalış Beach, İztuzu Beach (Dalyan). It is also serving as a destination for cultural tourism due to the city ruins derived from antiquity. Some of the antique cities around Fethiye are: Telmessos, Kaunos, Kadyanda, Tlos, Pınara, Letoon, and Xanthos.
Faralya
This village is one of Fethiye’s hidden beauties. In the area where the village is found (covering 40km), visitors can easily reach the historical Roman and Lycian ruins, butterfly valley and various other natural places of beauty.
Faralya is stretched along the slope of a steep mountain and is just 8km from Ölüdeniz and 22km from Fethiye. The village is on the Lycian way and is set against red pine forests.
In this naturally protected area, you can find tombs as well as many other historical remains. Some of the nicest places here are Hisar Street, which is at the entrance to Faralya and from which you can sea butterfly valley stretching out to the sea, Orta Street which overlooks Aktaş beach and Kabak Street which is found at the head of Kabak bay.
