BOLU
With 60% of the land covered in forestry areas, Bolu is a place which comes at the top of the list of Turkeys green paradises. Besides various places which are open to visitors all year round such as Abant and Yedigöller, Bolu is also famous for its chefs and the wonderful cuisine they prepare. The history of chefs who are trained from Mengen goes way back to the times of the Padışah (Kings). These days Mengeli master chefs are known not only in Turkey but in many other places. The Mengen chef’s festival which is held each year is shown great importance as it adds to the culture and tourism of the area. In the villages here you will find an oven made from earth or brick in the garden of almost every house. The taste of the pastries and meals which are cooked above the flames in these ovens is truly unique.

As well as these there are also many culinary delights which are particular to the area such as Mudurnus Palace Helva which is a kind of dry dessert which has also become recognised all over the world. From a geological point Bolu is set up over the most important fault lines in Turkey and for this reason is home to many geothermal and thermal water springs.
