Karamürsel
KaramürselKaramürsel is found on the south of the Kocaeli gulf. It is between Gölcük and Yalova and is known for its beautiful beach, fish restaurants, olive groves and fruit garden which are full of cherries, plums, peaches and pears to name just a few. Karamürsel is also famous for the unique ‘Karamürsel sepeti’. This is a special kind of basket that has no handles and is tied to the back of its carrier. The baskets are hand-woven and are generally used to collect fruit. The characteristics of the baskets are that they look small to the eye yet have a very large capacity.
A dish which is special to this area is called Simit dolması and is found especially during the month of Ramadan.
