Beypazarı
Ankara
The Turkish republic was born from the ashes of the Ottoman Empire and traces of its transition are visible all over Ankara.
The outer wall of the city has seven gates and besides the Anatolian Civilizations museum, there are also many other places of historical interest which are open to visitors.
Ankara is situated in the heart of central Anatolia and is the capital of Turkey. Despite its modern appearances, the history of Ankara stretches right back to the Bronze Age at the time of the Hittites.
Anıtkabir (monumental tomb)
The names of the units which are found inside the eternal resting place of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk are ; Istiklal Kulesi, Hürriyet Kulesi, Aslanlı Yol, Müdafaa-i Hukuk Kulesi, Mehmetçik Kulesi, Zafer Kulesi, Barış Kulesi, 23 Nisan Kulesi, Misak-ı Kulesi, Inkılap Kulesi, Zafer Kabartmaları, mozole-Şeref Holü.
Anatolian Civilizations Museum
In the museum, the Anatolian Archaeology begins with the Palaeolithic age and continues in chronological order with the Neolithic age, Calcolithic, Old Bronze age, Hittites, Phrygians, Urartu, Late Hittite and Ottoman, displaying various collections from many excavations.
Augustus Temple
The temple is found by the Hacı Bayram mosque. It was built in the name of the Phrygian goddess ‘Men’ in 2nd century BC but unfortunately crumbled over time. This monument also celebrated the Glory of Augustus who was the first Roman Emperor and after his death the temple was adorned with coloured, engraved letters to recount his res gestae.
Ankara castle
Ankara castle has guarded the region for centuries and is the cities symbol. The exact date of the castle’s construction is unknown however it is widely believed to have first been built by the Romans and later restored and expanded by the Seljuk’s.
BEYPAZARI
Beypazarı is a town, which is two hours away from Ankara, by car. You can have a sightseeing tour among the historical and valuable houses, and also give yourself in the nature. Do not forget to benefit from the health springing out from Ayaş Spring and to touch the beauty of the scarves named “Bürgü”. You have the chance to see the town in birds-eye-view from Hıdırlık Hill, with 400 meters height. Beypazarı Museum:
Located at the old city centre, this building today functions as Beypazarı Museum with its typical Beypazarı House characteristics and deserves to be visited with its 9 rooms and exhibits of its garden. The garden of the museum, opened in 1996 as “House of History and Culture”, includes Roman pillar base, marble pillars, tomb covers, Byzantium church remainings, Seljuk ram statue, Ottoman-time pressing stone, Wishing Well.
