Once a summer house, belonging to her father, the pension is now run by owner Aysel Buluç. Her father’s passion for antiques is shown by the rare pieces that now decorate the pension. Each taking their own precious place. The rooms take their names from precious stones, Turquaz, Inci, Ametist, Zümrüt, Kehribar, Akik, Yakut, Lal, Pembe, Kuvars, Lapis, and Mercan. Every room’s concept reflects the colour of the stone it takes it’s name from. Here you can enjoy a drink on the terrace whilst taking in the view of Istanbul and Sedef island; from our beachside location and surrounded by architecture which is typical of the island. Home made jams and vegetables collected from the pension’s own greenhouse, are served for breakfast. As for the highly original menu, how about trying sardines in vine leaves, salad with special herbs such as spicy garden cress, or nettle sigara boreği (nettles in filo pastry).

Found at the highest point of the Island are the Ayia Yorgi church and the Ayia Yorgi monastery. Every year on the 23rd of April and the 24th of September, hundreds of people climb 200mt to try and reach the church to pray and make wishes.
At the top of Isa hill, you can find the Hristas church and monastery as well as an old Greek orphanage. One of the other most important religious structures found on the Island is the Ayios Dimitrios church.
Visitors to the Island can also go to see the house which was occupied by soviet leader Leon Trotsky from 1929-1933 after his deportation.
Visitors can also go to the old house of the famous Turkish writer Reşat Nuri Güntekin.
The Island is home to many fish restaurants which are dotted along the coast. Due to the popularity of the restaurants it’s never easy to get a table especially in the summer months so it is advisable to go early. The Island has 3-4 hotels which are all run in a boutique style.
Istanbul
Istanbul is one of the rarest cities in the world, not only is it a place which is discussed all over the world but it has also had many pieces written about it. Whilst some have taken an emotional approach and praised it, others have made relentless criticisms.
One once wrote ‘why would they give up everything just to live here?’ whilst another called it ‘the capital of the world’.
Istanbul is such a city; it has even been compared with Rome. It dazzles visitors with its golden presence, magnificent buildings, religious value, bazaars and baths.
Istanbul is the bridge which connects the eastern world with the west and has unrivalled geography and fabulous history.
There is no other place in the world where you can pass from Asia into Europe within 5 minutes. Istanbul is not only continents, but also a crucible for a combination of cultures including Pagan, Christian and Muslim. Istanbul is jollity of beliefs, religions, languages, races and cultures. Mosques, churches and synagogues are found side by side and the call to prayer, the bells and the Hazan are all heard simultaneously. Istanbul has the world’s richest, most interesting mosaic of civilizations
The Bosporus connects two seas and flows through the centre of this magnificent city. Its shores are embroidered like lace with small bays, trees and beautiful flowers.
