ANTALYA
A treasure of history, culture and entertainment… A city combining numerous marvels from Blue Voyage and deep diving to its beaches and caves… Antalya beaches are granted “Blue Flag” with its clean sea and beaches. Antalya, where tourists are flowing in through out the year, is also famous for its various and uncommon sea food. …
Konyaaltı Beach:
Lying on the skirts of the snowy mountains, Konyaaltı Beach has calm but sudden depths. The beach and the restaurants along the shore may address to any kind of taste.
Topçam Beach:
It is only 15 kilometers away from the city center. The beach, surrounded by pine trees, is also ideal for scuba diving. The Sıçan Island lies just in front of it. Küçük Çaltıcak, Büyük Çaltıcak, Beldibi, Kızıltepe Mocamp Facilities, Kemer Bay, Phaselis and Çıralı Beaches are also having the same beauties.
Lara Beach:
It is 11 kilometers away from Antalya, its sea is sandy and shallow.
Karain Cave:
Karain Cave, used from Paleolithic Era till Persian Age, is the eldest known settling area of Turkey.
Scuba diving
French Sunken: The sunken, located just 1 kilometer away from Antalya Marina, belongs to the French war vessel named “San Didier”, which was sunk in 1942, during the war. No matter there are not so many remainings left, this sunken is still very attractive for the scuba divers.
The Cliffs: Their depth varies from 14 meters to 25 meters. The first 20-meter is very attractive. One of the places preferred for diving is the end of the curves leading to the Konyaaltı Beach. The rocky part in this location reaches a depth of 25 meters ensuring a sight of under-water cliffs and life.
Sıçan Adası
This small island, a few kilometers away from the Antalya marina, is another place attracting the divers. Its northeast rocky coast reaches a depth of 22 meters. An additional small cave is also a nice bonus for the divers.
Kaleiçi
Kaleiçi is surrounded by city walls which are in the shape of a horse shoe, both on the inside and on the outside. In certain places these walls have been destroyed or have fallen down but some parts still remain. Kaleiçi was a common landmark for the Hellenistic, Romans, Byzantines, Seljuk’s and the ottomans. The city walls have 80 towers and within the walls are up to 3000 houses with tiled roofs.
The characteristics of the houses don’t only give an idea of the history of Antalya’s architecture but also the lifestyle of the area. The houses also reflect its customs and traditions in the best possible way.
In 1972, due to the authentic material of Antalya’s inner harbour and the Kaleiçi area, they were taken under protection and made into an area of archaeological, economical and social interest.
Thanks to the ‘Antalya-Kaleiçi Complex Restoration’ by the ministry of tourism on the 28th of April 1984, the area was awarded the Golden Apple Tourism Oscar by FİJET (world federation of travel writers).
These days, Kaleiçi is a place which is full of entertainment, hotels, pensions, restaurants and bars.
